The Commonwealth Environmental Investment Platform (CEIP) has been listed this month by SMEs and Experts as one of the recommended international trade resources.

SMEs can take advantage of the UK’s Commonwealth connections.

The Commonwealth Environmental Investment Platform (CEIP) supports businesses in sustainability and environmental technologies with exports and international partnerships.

John Panczak, a non-executive director at flood protection company, Aquobex, says that his business has been working with CEIP to identify opportunities.

It has helped the firm to set up meetings with contacts in Sri Lanka and Mauritius, and begin discussions in Bangladesh and Malaysia.
“CEIP is also planning to assist us to engage at a ministerial level in Commonwealth territories,” Mr Panczak adds.

This week The American College of Transportation Attorneys (ACTA) announced that Scopelitis Partner Mike Langford has been elected vice chair, effective August 18, 2017. This announcement also included news that Mr. Langford will become chairman of ACTA in 2019.

Mr. Langford focuses his practice in the area of trial court litigation. He is a charter member of the ACTA and also serves on the Board of Directors of the Transportation Industry Defense Association (TIDA). He serves as chief Indiana legal counsel for the largest truckload motor carrier in North America, and as national counsel for a number of motor carriers.

On Thursday 13th July, Michael Sippitt Chairman of the Commonwealth Environmental Investment Platform (CEIP) & Clarkslegal LLP, participated in a panel discussion at the event organised by the Commonwealth Secretariat - 'Wealth Forum: Harnessing the Commonwealth Advantage in International Trade’. The panel looked at the importance of enhancing connectivity across the Commonwealth, which includes the new forms of trading relationships that are arising as a result of profound technological advances.

Alexander Beard Group (ABG) has bought McGowan Associates for an undisclosed sum, bringing a further £35m of assets under management to the Cheshire-based group. McGowan Associates (McGA) comprises two advisers and a paraplanner, and is based in Yorkshire.

Paul Beard, executive chairman of Alexander Beard Group, said that the acquisition fits its strategy of buying smaller practices in relevant locations.
