Charles represents financial institutions, companies and investors in senior and subordinate syndicated and non-syndicated loan and repurchase transactions, structured finance, asset based lending, mortgage loan warehousing, loan participations, workouts and distressed credit restructurings, and asset acquisitions and dispositions. His real estate experience includes retail, office, industrial, condominium, hotel, multifamily, and land development project construction and term finance, management, leasing, purchases and sales. He also advises clients on United States federal appraisal regulations, Flood Disaster Protection Act (FDPA) regulations and environmental matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Charles worked in the energy, finance and real estate section of an international law firm, as Assistant General Counsel of Bank of America, N.A., where he established the bank's national construction loan syndication and participation forms, and real estate terms for corporate lines of credit to large real estate companies, and as Associate General Counsel with a real estate developer where he worked on leasing, building management, purchase, finance and sale matters.

Charles obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center and Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Houston. He is a member of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, where he serves as a Fellow; Dallas Bar Association; New York State Bar Association; State Bar of Texas and Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Commercial Real Estate Law. He is an AV® Peer Rating recipient by Martindale-Hubbell, has been named a 2009 " Real Estate Super Lawyers" by Key Professional Media, Inc., which published in their Corporate Counsel Edition, and has been listed among the 2003 through 2008 "Super Lawyers" by Key Professional Media, Inc.
